‘You’d Better Be Really Quick!’ 6-Year-Old’s Sweet Doorbell Camera Message to Mom Goes Viral

In the middle of a hectic workday, one Utah mom got a reminder of what matters most — all thanks to her doorbell camera.

Kelly Kuabala, a single mom raising her son Jack, found herself overwhelmed with emotion after checking her Ring app and catching a touching moment between herself and her little boy. What started as a quick hello turned into a viral-worthy exchange of love.

Kelly, who works full time, says she uses the doorbell camera as a way to stay connected while away from home. “It gives me a sense of security, but also lets me feel a little closer to Jack during the day,” she tells PEOPLE. “We make the most of the time we do have together.”

Their usual routine is packed with love and activity: “We wake up, I drink my coffee, he eats breakfast, then we play a game — maybe a board game or some Mario Kart — before heading out to school and work,” Kelly says. “If it’s our day off, we go to the pool, take a short hike, play baseball, or head to karate class. We always end the day with a bath and making dinner together.”

And while Kelly tries to maximize every moment at home, some days she’s away — which is when Jack is looked after by loving relatives like his grandmother.

One afternoon while Jack was home with his grandma, Kelly spotted a motion alert from her Ring app and decided to say hi through the camera’s two-way talk feature.

What she heard in return made her stop everything.

“You better be really quick because I really miss you,” Jack said sweetly to the camera.

Kelly says she’s used the camera to chat with him before, but this moment was special. “This was the first time he’s said something that sweet on camera. I had to save it,” she says. “It was too cute not to.”

For a mom juggling a demanding job and raising a child on her own, the video struck a chord. “It means the world to me to have little moments like this. Being a single mom — the only active parent in his life — I carry guilt sometimes for not being around more,” she admits. “So to know he misses me and wants to be with me, even when I’m not there, it just makes me feel incredibly loved.”

Jack’s grandma, who was briefly occupied letting the family dog outside, later saw the video and was just as touched. “She said it melted her heart,” Kelly shares. “She told me Jack talks about how much he loves me all the time, and hearing him say it out loud like that was just so precious.”

And for Kelly, it was more than just a cute video — it was a powerful reminder of the bond she and her son share, no matter the distance.
