Chilling new details have surfaced about a harrowing alligator attack that turned a peaceful kayaking excursion into a life-or-death struggle on a canal in Polk County, Florida. The March 3 incident left one woman with a nearly severed arm and sent shockwaves through the kayaking community.
According to a recently released report by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the incident unfolded when a group of 20 kayakers, including 64-year-old Christiane Salvador and her husband Philip, were paddling through a section of the canal known as Tiger Creek.
Without warning, Salvador felt a strong jolt against her paddle. Moments later, her kayak capsized, plunging her into the murky water. “There’s an alligator on my arm!” she screamed, desperately trying to keep her head above water as chaos erupted around her.
Philip Salvador, witnessing the horrifying scene, acted swiftly. He managed to pull his wife onto the overturned kayak, but her arm remained trapped beneath the surface—locked in the jaws of a powerful predator.
