Woman, 25, Described as a ‘Cherished Mother’ of 2, Shot Dead Inside a Mississippi McDonald’s

A horrifying scene unfolded inside a Mississippi McDonald’s on Monday evening, June 16, when a young mother was gunned down in what police believe was a domestic violence attack carried out by the father of her children.

The shooting took place in the city of Brandon, just 10 miles east of Jackson, and has left an entire community in shock — particularly because it unfolded in a public setting and reportedly in front of children.

The victim, Kianna Jackson, 25, of Pearl, Mississippi, was described by loved ones as a devoted mother, beloved daughter, sister, and friend. According to Brandon Police Chief Joseph French, Jackson was shot and killed inside the McDonald’s located on Stribling Lane shortly before 7:00 p.m. local time.

The suspect, identified as Jhonterryes Dampier, 27, of Mendenhall, allegedly entered the fast-food restaurant, opened fire, and shot Jackson in front of several witnesses, including employees and customers. Moments later, Dampier turned the gun on himself, sustaining what police described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
