He eventually grabbed a 10-inch kitchen knife, held it to her neck, and threatened to kill her. When she pleaded for him to stop, he briefly threw the knife aside — only to continue the assault by kicking, punching, and kneeing her until she lost consciousness.
While Gutierrez stepped outside to dispose of evidence, the woman regained consciousness and managed to call 911, whispering the address before disconnecting. When he returned, she told him she needed medical help.
He then forced her to concoct a cover story, claiming she had been attacked by two unknown women — a lie meant to shield him from legal consequences.
Fortunately, responding officers quickly saw through the deception. They found clear evidence of a violent struggle inside the RV, including shattered glass, blood, and the kitchen knife used in the attack. Gutierrez was arrested on the spot.
This is not Gutierrez’s first conviction for domestic violence. In 2016, he was sentenced to five years in prison for continuous family violence. His latest conviction means he will now serve a significantly longer term — and under Texas law, he will be required to serve at least half of his 25-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
“This case is a grim reminder of the dangers of intimate partner violence,” the DA’s office said in a statement. “Thanks to the victim’s bravery and the swift action of Bryan Police officers, justice has been served — and a dangerous individual is no longer free to harm others.”
The condition of the victim and her pregnancy has not been publicly disclosed.
