Donald Trump has reignited his feud with Elon Musk, launching a fiery tirade on Truth Social late Monday in response to the tech billionaire’s latest criticisms of his administration’s signature economic proposal — the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”
In classic Trump fashion, the former president didn’t hold back, mocking Musk’s dependence on government subsidies and threatening to sic his former departments on him. “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far,” Trump wrote. “Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”
Trump then took it a step further — dragging SpaceX, Tesla, and even DOGE into the mix. “No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE,” he warned. “Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!”
The outburst comes in response to Musk’s weekend posts on X, where he lambasted Trump’s legislative agenda. Musk warned that the “Big Beautiful Bill” — which outlines sweeping changes in taxes, healthcare, energy, and immigration — would inflict “immense strategic harm” on the U.S. economy and “destroy millions of jobs.”
Musk also accused Trump of pushing outdated economic models, arguing the bill props up “industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.” He went further on Monday night, threatening to form a new political party if the bill passes — deriding the GOP as the “PORKY PIG PARTY” and calling supporters of the legislation “liars.”
In true Musk fashion, his social media assault included memes — one featuring Pinocchio with his pants on fire, underscoring what he called “blatant lies” about the bill’s fiscal impact. Musk claims it will increase the deficit by $5 trillion.
This isn’t the first clash between the mogul and the MAGA chief. Just weeks ago, Musk publicly broke ranks with Trump over crypto policy and government regulation. The friction intensified when Musk distanced himself from DOGE (the Department of Government Efficiency), a Trump-era initiative that once had his vocal support.
In return, Trump fired back, claiming Musk’s tech empire exists only because of federal handouts and warning he could cut those lifelines. Musk, undeterred, even claimed credit for helping Trump win the 2024 election — a claim that 47 quickly rejected.
Though Trump once said Musk “wasn’t on his mind,” Monday’s barrage suggests otherwise.
As the political temperature rises and the bill inches closer to a congressional vote, the war of words between Trump and Musk is no longer just a personal spat — it’s a proxy battle for the future of American industry, influence, and ideology.
Stay tuned. This one’s only getting louder.
