As top Biden administration officials face mounting scrutiny from the House Oversight Committee over an alleged cover-up of Joe Biden’s mental decline, a former Democratic Party insider says she witnessed the operation up close — and she’s now breaking ranks to expose it.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Lindy Li — once a prominent Democratic fundraiser and member of the DNC’s National Finance Committee — described what she called a deliberate campaign to prop up a cognitively failing president while others “pulled the strings” behind the scenes.
“Joe Biden was complicit, but he wasn’t in control. There were puppet masters — and Jill Biden was the ringmaster,” Li alleged. “What she did, in my opinion, was outright elder abuse. No question.”

A House Subpoena and a Power Behind the Throne
The accusations arrive just days after House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) issued a subpoena to Anthony Bernal — a longtime senior aide to Jill Biden — demanding his testimony over his alleged role in shielding the public from Biden’s deteriorating mental state.
Bernal had initially agreed to appear voluntarily, but reversed course after the White House waived executive privilege, sparking outrage from committee members.
Li didn’t hold back when asked about Bernal.
“I watched him run the White House like a monarch,” she said. “He dodged the subpoena, but he won’t dodge history. His name is going to be infamous.”
According to Li, Bernal — who also served as Jill Biden’s chief of staff — operated more as the de facto leader of the East Wing than as a traditional advisor, following the First Lady “like a dog.” His influence reportedly expanded as Jill Biden increasingly stepped into her husband’s public and political roles.
“Jill Ran the White House”
Li claimed that Jill Biden, not the President, was calling many of the shots during Biden’s tenure, especially when the president was kept off the campaign trail in 2024.

“Jill loved the attention. That’s why she was on the cover of Vogue three times,” Li said. “When Joe couldn’t make it to events, she’d show up instead — acting like the candidate, or even the president. She was in charge.”
Asked why President Biden decided to seek re-election despite mounting concerns over his cognitive fitness, Li was blunt:
“Two people wanted him to run again — Jill and Hunter. Jill wanted the power, and Hunter wanted the legal protection. His freedom was at stake.”
The Autopen, Tanden, and a “Cover-Up”
Li also implicated other senior White House figures, including counselor Steve Ricchetti, advisor Anita Dunn, strategist Mike Donilon, and Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reed, calling them the real operators behind the scenes.
She reserved special criticism for Neera Tanden, Biden’s former domestic policy advisor, who recently testified before the House about her role in authorizing use of the autopen — an automatic signature device used to sign official documents on Biden’s behalf.
Tanden defended the practice, but Li called it part of a broader effort to “mask the president’s inability to perform basic duties.”
“Tanden’s smug comment — ‘I answered every question’ — sounded just like Jill Biden last year, right after Joe’s disastrous debate,” Li said. “I was there. Jill said, ‘You answered every question!’ It was all spin. The campaign managers even claimed Biden couldn’t drop out because of campaign finance laws. They lied to protect the illusion.”
Fallout and Defections
Li, who formally left the Democratic Party in late 2024, said she’s faced backlash from former colleagues and donors for going public — but she insists the American people deserve the truth.

“The Democratic Party went to astonishing lengths to hide Biden’s condition,” she said. “This wasn’t just denial. It was a coordinated cover-up.”
And for those still defending the administration, Li offered a sharp warning:
“The country didn’t elect Jill Biden, or Anthony Bernal, or Neera Tanden. But those were the people making the decisions. The American public was deceived.”
When Fox News Digital reached out to Biden officials for comment, one former aide reportedly replied:
“Who is Lindy Li?”
With investigations ramping up, that question may soon be answered on a much bigger stage.
