A Texas couple is facing murder charges after their 4-month-old daughter was found dead inside a hotel room drawer — where she had allegedly been placed to sleep, with towels stuffed around the edges to keep her from kicking it open, authorities say. The shocking case has horrified investigators and the public alike, as new details emerge about the abuse and neglect the infant endured.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Destiny Campos and 38-year-old Jeremy Fancher were staying at a Days Inn & Suites on Rancho Mission Drive in the Mission Bend area when emergency responders were called on May 26, 2024.

Paramedics arrived at Room 111 around 1 p.m. and found infant Brookelynn Fancher unresponsive inside a drawer in the hotel room. Despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an extensive investigation, both parents were arrested and charged with murder. In a statement posted to social media, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez called the case filled with “horrific details.”

According to a criminal complaint, the couple routinely placed Brookelynn inside a hotel drawer — closing it and stuffing towels around the edges — so they could sleep or engage in other activities without being disturbed by the baby’s cries.

Campos allegedly told investigators that Fancher found the child’s screams to be “piercing” and that he often shoved a bottle in her mouth just to quiet her down. She added that Fancher sometimes shut the drawer completely and used a towel to keep it sealed, preventing the infant from kicking it open.
