On the morning of September 11, 2001, Timothy Welty was a 34-year-old firefighter, husband and father of two.
His youngest child, Julia, was only four weeks old.
She was too young to understand who her father was or to form the memories that most children carry for a lifetime. In the years that followed, she would come to know him through photographs, old home videos and the stories told by the people who had loved him.
Her father was a firefighter with Squad 288 in Queens.
He had been on the job for eight years.
And on that morning, he responded to the World Trade Center.
He never came home.
