My Parents Called My Christmas Gift “Cheap” and Told Me to Leave – Then Dad Opened the Cedar Box

My parents called me a freeloader in front of twenty-three relatives on Christmas.

Then my father picked up the cedar box I had spent nine hours making by hand and shoved it across the dinner table.

“We don’t need your cheap gift,” he said. “Take it and get out.”

I looked at the box.

Then I laughed.

My father frowned.

“What’s so funny?”

He had no idea what was inside.

He had no idea that the daughter he had just humiliated in front of our entire family was the engineer behind one of the biggest projects his company had been trying to win for months.

And he certainly didn’t know that the two envelopes inside that “cheap” wooden box contained information that could help him secure the contract he wanted more than anything.
