Authorities in Pennsylvania have launched an investigation following the heartbreaking death of a 2-year-old girl who drowned in a backyard pool earlier this week. The incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, June 19, in East Pittsburgh, according to a statement released by the Allegheny County Police Department.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene shortly after 1:00 p.m. local time, following reports of a child who had been found unresponsive and not breathing. When first responders arrived, they located the young girl submerged in a swimming pool. Despite immediate efforts to revive her, she was transported to a nearby hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as Kehlani Russell, a 2-year-old child whose life was tragically cut short. At this time, the Medical Examiner’s Office has not publicly released further details regarding the exact cause or circumstances surrounding her death.
